Wellesley is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 26,613 at the 2000 census. It is best known as the home of Wellesley College and Babson College. The Hunnewell Arboretum abuts the Wellesley campus, and the Elm Bank Horticulture Center is also located in Wellesley. The public education services of the town are well regarded, especially Wellesley High School. Despite the fact that the town is not actually the wealthiest town in the state (it is behind neighboring Weston, Sudbury and Brookline) it has the reputation of being one of the most affluent and prestigious suburbs of Boston due to Wellesley College and the fact that some of the town's least ethnically diverse neighborhoods are prominently located on its edges. Nonetheless, it is always ranked on the top 5. According to Boston Magazine's yearly "Best Places To Live" Wellesley ranks first in the United States in percentage of adults who hold at least one college degree.

What People are Saying!

“The agent you connected to us was very helpful and was very good at staying in touch with us. He sent us all kinds of "stuff" about the location to which we might have been transferred. I would have had no trouble working with him to find just the right home in the new location. Thank you. Should a possible move come up again, I would not hesitate to contact you again.”
Edward A.

“Gene has been most helpful in providing us information. We have yet to make our decision as to whether we are definitely going to move, based on an offer of a business opportunity in the area. Gene is friendly yet professional and follows up on his committments. It is a pleasure working with him!”

Irish Music Kicking off the 14th annual Arts Festival at Boston College on April 26
04/26/2012

Irish fiddle champion Seamus Connolly, head of the Gaelic Roots Music Program, is kicking off this year's Arts Festival at Boston College on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at O'Neill Plaza, starting at noon.

Connolly, a noted musician, composer and educator, and Sullivan Artist in Residence at BC's Irish Studies Program, will lead an ensemble of Irish teachers and students to perform a 45 minute set of music and dancing.

The three-day festival, which runs from April 26-28, 2012, highlights the wealth of music and dance, literature and theatre, film studies and arts at Boston College.  For a full schedule of activities, click here.

For year round details on Irish cultural activities in Massachusetts and the New England region, visit IrishMassachusetts.com.

The added performances are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, May 1 – 3, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 4 at 8pm, Saturday, May 5 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m.. The Luck of the Irish plays at the Huntington’s Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street in Boston's South End.

The play deals with the tensions and perceptions that ensue when a white couple ghost-buys a house in the suburbs for a black couple in the 1950s.  Racial integration in Boston over the past half century, and the longing for place that everyone feels, is examined with sensitivity and care.

The Boston Globe says The Luck of the Irish is “superb” and “beautifully realized,” and “Greenidge is a writer of compassion and deep understanding. A [plot] summary does not begin to capture how rich Greenidge’s dialogue is, how satisfyingly detailed the two interwoven stories are, and how uniformly well-acted it is.”

A new block of seats is on sale now. Single tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online at huntingtontheatre.org, by phone at 617 266-0800, or in person at the BU Theatre Box Office, 264 Huntington Ave. and the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA Box Office.
