Arlington Virginia - Population: 189,453
Arlington County is an urban county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the U.S., directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. Originally part of the District of Columbia, the land now comprising the county was retroceded to Virginia in a July 9, 1846 act of Congress that took effect in 1847.
As of January 1, 2006, the estimated population was 200,226.[1] Its county seat is the census-designated place of ArlingtonGR6. Strictly speaking, it is inaccurate to refer to it as the city of Arlington. All cities within the state are independent of counties, though towns may be incorporated within counties. However, Arlington has no existing incorporated towns because Virginia law prevents the creation of any new municipality within a county that has a population density greater than 1,000 persons per square mile. Arlington CDP is co-extensive with Arlington County.

Alexandria Virginia - Population: 128,283
Alexandria is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 128,284. It is located on the west bank of the Potomac River, six miles south of downtown Washington, DC.
Like the rest of Northern Virginia, as well as southern Maryland, modern Alexandria has been shaped by its proximity to the nation's capital. It is largely populated by professionals working in the federal civil service, the U.S. military, or for one of the many private companies which contract to provide services to the federal government. The latter are known locally as beltway bandits, after the Capital Beltway, an interstate highway that circles Washington, D.C. One of Alexandria's largest employers is the U.S. Department of Defense. Others include the Institute for Defense Analyses and the Center for Naval Analyses.

Burke Virginia - Population: 57,737
The area of Fairfax County known as Burke is named for Silas Burke (1796–1854), a 19th century farmer, merchant, and local politician who built a house on a hill overlooking the valley of Pohick Creek in approximately 1824. The house is still standing. When the Orange and Alexandria Railroad was constructed in the late 1840s, the railroad station at the base of that hill was named Burke's Station after Burke, who owned the land in the area and donated a right-of-way to the railroad company. The community that grew up around the railroad station acquired a post office branch in 1852. Currently, railroad tracks on the same historical line are owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway and form part of the Manassas line of the Virginia Railway Express commuter rail system, of which two stations lie in the Burke area.

Woodbridge Virginia - Population: 31,941
Woodbridge is home to Potomac Mills Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in Northern Virginia. Woodbridge is a typical suburban city in that many of its residents are employed in nearby Washington, D.C. This is especially true in the areas near Dale City and Manassas. Prince William County Parkway is probably the most important road in the city. It connects the city to I-95 and runs right through the middle of Woodbridge. Route 234 is also described as an "outer beltway" connecting the I-95 corridor and U.S. 1 (Jefferson Davis Hwy.) to points west and north and ultimately terminating at Interstate 66. Route 234, also know as Dumfries Road, is being widened from two lanes to four to accommodate residential development in the southern part of Prince William County.
Due in part to the I-95 and I-66 HOV waiver given to hybrid vehicles, many D.C. government workers have relocated to the area to take advantage of the lower-priced housing.
