Waynesboro, deriving its name from General Anthony Wayne or possibly Wayne's family home, is an independent city located within the confines of Augusta County in the U.S. state of Virginia. The population was 19,520 at the 2000 census. It is located in the Shenandoah Valley, near many important historical markers of the Civil War and Shenandoah National Park. A portion of Interstate 64 falls within the city limits of Waynesboro, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and the Appalachian Trail are less than five miles away. Charlottesville Virginia - Population: 45,049
As of the 2003 census update, the city proper had a population of 39,162. It is the county seat of Albemarle CountyGR6 though the two are separate legal entities. The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines the city of Charlottesville with Albemarle County for statistical purposes, bringing the total population to 118,398. In 2004, Charlottesville was ranked the best place to live in the United States in the book Cities Ranked and Rated by Bert Sperling and Peter Sander. Sperling and Sander ranked the cities based on cost of living, climate, and quality of life. It is best known as the home of the University of Virginia, founded by Thomas Jefferson.

Staunton Virginia - Population: 23,853
Staunton (IPA: ['stæntn?] or "STAN-tehn" or "STANT-en") is an independent city within the confines of Augusta County in the commonwealth of Virginia. The population was 23,853 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Augusta CountyGR6. The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines the city of Staunton (along with nearby Waynesboro) with Augusta county for statistical purposes. The city was originally named Augusta Courthouse and was the westernmost courthouse in British North America prior to the American Revolution.
In 1908, Staunton was the first city in the world to adopt a city manager form of government, an outgrowth of the Progressive movement, which has been repeated in many locations since.[1] It is known for being the birthplace of the 28th U.S. President, Woodrow Wilson and the home of the Mary Baldwin College, a women's college that features a number of unique programs, including the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership and the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted.
