Richmond is the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the United States of America. Like all Virginia municipalities incorporated as cities, it is an independent city, not part of any county (Richmond County is unrelated, and located more than 53 miles (85 kilometers) distant in a different region of the state). Richmond is located on the fall line of the James River in the Piedmont region of Virginia and is at the center of the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the Greater Richmond Area. The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.92.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 23.2% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 87.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.4 males.

Mechanicsville Virginia - Population: 30,464
The first was the Battle of Beaver Dam Creek, which began on June 26, 1862. Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee launched a series of assaults against the right of Union Maj. Gen. George B. McClellan's army positioned along Beaver Dam Creek, just east of Mechanicsville. Union forces repulsed the Confederate attacks and afterward withdrew to a new position along Boatswain Creek near Gaines' Mill. The Beaver Dam Creek engagement was the second in the series of American Civil War battles known as the Seven Days Battles. A small portion of the battlefield has been preserved as part of the Richmond National Battlefield Park, a park area administered by the National Park Service.

Chester Virginia - Population: 17,890
Chester is a census-designated place (CDP) in Chesterfield County, Virginia, United States. The population was 17,890 at the 2000 census.
Chester's original "downtown" was is defined by being a stop on the Richmond and Petersburg railroad. The Chester Station was the scene of a battle during the American Civil War. Chester today is a bedroom community along State Route Route 10. Recent commercial development in Chester has emerged at the sprawling intersection of SR 10 and U.S. Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) near the on-ramp to Interstate 95.
Chester is served by Thomas Dale High School, L.C. Bird High School, Carver Middle School and Chester Middle School.

Bon Air Virginia - Population: 16,213
Bon Air is a census-designated place and an unincorporated community in Chesterfield County, Virginia, United States. The population was 16,213, at the 2000 census. However, the most recent estimate (2005) shows the community's population has grown to 21,210. The community is considered a suburb of the independent city of Richmond in the Richmond-Petersburg region. Originally developed as a resort, a central portion of Bon Air has been designated as a National Historical District with many structures of Victorian design from the late 19th and early 20th century. Its name means "good air," reflecting its role as a resort getaway that Richmonders enjoyed for its fresh air as opposed to the dirty air of Richmond's industrial downtown of the late 1800s.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $40,641, and the median income for a family was $47,398. Males had a median income of $32,378 versus $27,343 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $22,242.
