Great Falls is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 8,549 at the 2000 census. It is one of the wealthiest suburbs of Washington, D.C. located along the Potomac River. Many important and influential people live there. The lots are large, typically 1/2, 2, 5, or 10 acres and up and many are zoned for horses (some of the larger lots have horse riding rings, particularly those occupied by older homes.) Although primarily a bedroom community for Washington, D.C., one major attraction is Great Falls Park which overlooks the Great Falls of the Potomac River, for which the community and the park are named. George Washington was involved with building a canal around the falls on the southwest, or Virginia, side, called the Patowmack canal, which unfortunately did not become commercially viable. Remnants of the canal and of a village around the canal are still visible in the park.

Herndon Virginia - Population: 21,655
Herndon was named for Commander William Lewis Herndon, American naval explorer and author of Exploration of the Valley of the Amazon. Commander Herndon captained the ill-fated steamer SS Central America, going down with his ship while helping to save over 150 of its passengers and crew. The settlement was named Herndon in 1858. In the 1870s, many Northern soldiers and their families came to settle in the area, taking advantage of moderate climate and low land prices.[3]
Originally part of the rural surroundings of the Washington, D.C. area, the town of Herndon developed into a hub of dairy farming and vacationing for area residents, aided by its presence along the Alexandria, Loudoun and Hampshire Railroad (later to become the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad).[3] When the railroad was converted into a hike-and-bike trail, Herndon capitalized on history and small-town feel (in a major metropolitan region) by converting its train station into a museum and visitors center

Sterling Virginia - Population: 0
Sterling Park is a portion of Sterling with the ZIP code of 20164. The land where Sterling Park was built was mainly made up of a few very large farms. When construction of Dulles International Airport began in 1959, land prices began to rise. In 1961 Marvin T. Construction of the $14,800.00-$22,500.00 homes was completed by 1967. Sterling Park was one of the first planned communities built in Eastern Loudoun County and was a popular place for government workers to settle with their families outside the city. Sterling Park also contains a variety of businesses, churches, parks, a community center, semi-private golf club featuring two pools and tennis courts, and schools. It is the home of the Park View High School Patriots.
