Ooltewah is a census-designated place in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 5,681 at the 2000 census. At one point it was the county seat of James County, a former Tennessee county which went bankrupt in 1919 and was subsequently incorporated into Hamilton County. The former James County Courthouse located in the square in downtown Ooltewah is the place's major landmark. As of the censusof 2000, there were 5,681 people, 2,153 households, and 1,619 families residing in the CDP. The median income for a household in the CDP was $42,243, and the median income for a family was $46,439. Males had a median income of $33,423 versus $23,036 for females.

Cleveland is a city in Bradley County, Tennessee, United States. Collegedale is a city in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. It is a suburban area of Chattanooga, Tennessee, bordering Ooltewah and Apison. Collegedale was founded as the site of Southern Adventist University in 1916. It was incorporated under a city manager government in 1968, the first city manager being J. M. Ackerman.
