The borough of Media is the county seat of Delaware County, Pennsylvania and is located 12 miles (19 km) west of Philadelphia. Media was incorporated in 1850 at the same time that it was named the county seat. The population was 5,533 at the 2000 census. The history of the town goes back to William Penn, but the area remained predominently rural until the twentieth century, and is suburban today. The Delaware County Institute of Science was founded in Media in 1833, while the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, a two-year technical college, Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades and Delaware County Community College, a two-year liberal arts college, are located nearby. Media promotes itself as "Everybody's Hometown." Land in area was sold and settled soon after William Penn was named proprietor of the colony of Pennsylvania in 1681 by King Charles II of England.

Upper Darby Township is a township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA which split from Darby Township on August 30, 1736. However it was not incorporated under the home rule charter until 1907. Located just 5.8 miles from Center City, Philadelphia, many of its residents work in the city. The east-west Philadelphia subway (the 'El') terminates at 69th street, Upper Darby's principal business district. Several trolley and bus lines connect 69th Street Terminal to the western suburbs of Philadelphia. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 81,821, making it the 5th largest municipality in Pennsylvania. Upper Darby is 65% residential, 25% commercial, and 8% other. Because of a home-rule charter adopted in the 1970s, the township utilitzes a mayor-council form of management (other "First Class" townships in Pennsylvania have a board of commissioners divided into wards, and "Second Class" townships having a board of supervisors, which are usually elected "at-large").

Folcroft Pennsylvania - Population: 6,978
Folcroft is a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,978 at the 2000 census.
The property was originally part of a 350 acre land grant given by William Penn to England-born Obadiah Bonsall. Bonsall never lived there but rented the property in 1725 to Thomas Tatnall, and he and his wife Ann bought the property the same year. Tatnall, a member of the Pennsylvania Assembly in the 1740¹s, added another 150 acres to the property. He died about 1750 leaving his property to his only child Elizabeth and her heirs. Elizabeth had married John Knowles, son of an English immigrant, and Knowles inherited the entire estate upon her death around 1775. Knowles continued to add more property to the farm and by 1776 it totaled over 650 acres. He was then the largest landowner in the area.
