Settled in 1790 as Taylorville and incorporated in 1893, Taylor is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, four miles (six km) southwest of Scranton on the Lackawanna River. Coal mining and silk manufacturing had been practiced here. In 1900, 4,215 people lived here; in 1910, 9,060; and in 1940, 9,002 people lived in Taylor. The population was 6,475 at the 2000 census.

The City of Scranton is the county seat of Lackawanna County in Northeastern Pennsylvania, USA. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 76,415 (2003 estimate: 74,320). After Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Erie, Upper Darby, and Reading, Scranton is Pennsylvania's seventh most populous municipality.
Scranton is the geographic and cultural center of the Lackawanna River valley. It is the largest city located in a contiguous quilt-work of former anthracite coal mining communities including the smaller cities of Wilkes-Barre, Pittston, Forest City, and Carbondale. Scranton was incorporated as a borough on February 14, 1856 and as a city on April 23, 1866.

Dunmore Pennsylvania - Population: 14,018
Dunmore is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, adjoining Scranton. Dunmore was settled in 1835 and incorporated in 1862. Extensive anthracite coal, brick, stone, and silk interests had led to a rapid increase in the population to 8,315 in 1890, 12,583 in 1900, 17,615 in 1910, 20,250 in 1920, and 23,086 in 1940. The population was 14,018 at the 2000 census. Dunmore contains several schools: Dunmore High School, Bishop O'Hara High School, Saint Mary's of Mount Carmel Elementary School, and Saint Anthony's Elementary School.
Dunmore is one of the numerous villages which sprang from the original township of Providence, Pennsylvania. Purchased from the natives in 1754, the territory now embracing this village offered its solitude to the pioneers seeking a home in the wilderness between the Delaware and the Susquehanna rivers until the summer of 1783.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 7,027 people, 2,843 households, and 1,865 families residing in the borough. The population density was 702.9/km² (1,818.3/mi²). There were 3,010 housing units at an average density of 301.1/km² (778.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.32% White, 0.28% African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.34% from other races, and 0.56% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.77% of the population.
There were 2,843 households out of which 25.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.5% were married couples living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.4% were non-families. 31.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.95.

Archbald Pennsylvania - Population: 6,220
Archbald is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,220 at the 2000 census. The area of Archbald Borough was originally known as White Oak Run. It was named Archbald in 1876 after James Archbald, the first mayor of the city of Carbondale. Archbald Borough was the home of Archbald High School until the class of 1969 graduated. It was in the fall of 1969 that the boroughs of Archbald, Blakely, and Jessup combined their public schools forming what became and is present day the Valley View School District. Archbald Pothole State Park is a 150-acre park in northeastern Pennsylvania. The park is named for Archbald Pothole, a geologic feature that formed during the Wisconsin Glacial Period, around 15,000 years ago. The pothole is 38 feet deep and has an elliptical shape. The diameter of the pothole decreases downward. The largest diameter is 42 feet by 24 feet. At the bottom it is 17 feet by 14 feet. The pothole has a volume of about 18,600 cubic feet

Dickson City Pennsylvania - Population: 6,205
Dickson City is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, 4 miles (7 km) north of Scranton. Coal mining had been an important industry in the past. Some of the population totals follow: in 1900, 4,948; in 1910, 9,331; in 1920, 11,049; and in 1940, 11,548. Coal miners are much scarcer in Pennsylvania today than they had been, so populations have fallen in many places such as Dickson City; The population was 6,205 at the 2000 census.
Once dominated by coal mines, this borough has in recent times become the center of a thriving retail corridor focused along Business Route 6 and around the Viewmont Mall. Many of the nation's "big-box" stores and chain restaurants are represented here.
