Tualatin (IPA: tu ? l? tn?) is a city that is a southwestern suburb of Portland, Oregon, United States. It is located south of Tigard in Washington County, one of three Oregon counties that contain the Portland Metropolitan Area. The name is taken from the Tualatin River, which flows along most of the city's northern boundary. According to Oregon Geographic Names, a post office with the spelling "Tualitin" was established November 5, 1869, and the spelling changed to "Tualatin" in 1915. In the 1880s, the settlement was sometimes called Bridgeport, probably because of the nearby bridge, one of the first built over the Tualatin River. The population was 22,791 at the 2000 census. The 2006 estimate is 25,650 residents.

Major Robert Moore arrived in 1839 having been the senior member of the first attempt to create an American colony in Oregon, the Peoria Party. His title stems from his military service in the War of 1812, where he served in the Pennsylvania militia, possibly as a battlefield surgeon. Sometime after journeying around the Willamette Valley and Columbia Basin, Moore bought title to approx. 1,000 acres (4 km²) on the west side of Willamette Falls, across the Willamette River from Oregon City, from a local Native American chief named Wanax-ha, on which he platted a town known as the "Robbin's Nest" in early 1843. He also filed a provisional claim with the then government of the Oregon Country, not knowing if his unique transaction would be honored by the eventual governing laws. The later Territorial Legislature of Oregon voted to rename it "Linn City" on December 22, 1845 as a memorial to Senator Dr. Lewis Fields Linn for whom Linn County is also named.

The grandson of Daniel Boone, Alphonse Boone, settled in what would later become Wilsonville and established Boone's Ferry across the Willamette River. In protest of the construction of the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, specifically the effect of the prison on property values, Larry Eaton began erecting school buses on his property. The buses had a worse effect on property values than the prison did. The former site of Dammasch State Hospital was proposed as a location for Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, but met with much local controversy. Instead, the former hospital building and grounds are currently being used by Villebois, which is a development project. Living Enrichment Center, a New Thought Church with as many as 3,000 members, was headquartered in Wilsonville from 1992 until 2004.

The town began to take off at the beginning of the 20th century and many businesses, homes, and streets were built about this time. Oak Grove owes much of its initial growth to the fact that a street car line went down the middle of the town and the Oregon Trail finished a few miles away in Oregon City. Some of the campfire burn from the wagon trains are still visible on the trees. The Street car line went from Portland to Oregon City but closed in the 1950s. Some of the tracks used to be visible on Arista Drive, but they are still visible on a nature trail and a pillar from an old stop is visible outside the current Oak Grove School. Oak Grove School was originally built in 1907 but it burned down about 20 years later. A school was erected in the 1930s with an addition in the 1960s. In the sixties, another school was built was known as North Oak Grove. Oak Grove school was closed in 1999 and all the students shifted to North Oak Grove which was thereafter known as Oak Grove.
