Junction City is a city in Lane County, Oregon, United States. The population was 4,721 at the 2000 census. Junction City was originally named by railroad magnate Ben Holladay around 1870, who decided this would be where the rail line on the east side of the Willamette Valley meet the rail line on the west side. However, the westside line was not built according to plan, although Junction City later was where the two main branches of U.S. Highway 99 (which had divided in Portland, Oregon) joined.

The city of Eugene is the county seat of Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is located at the south end of the Willamette Valley, at the confluence of the McKenzie and Willamette rivers, about 60 miles (100 km) east of the Oregon Coast.
