White Plains New York - Population: 53,077
Since the early 1980s, it experienced a tremendous commercial and residential boom. During the late 1960s, White Plains developed a site master plan for residential, commercial and mixed use development that effectivly called for the demolition of its entire Central Business District from the Bronx River Parkway to East to Mamamroneck Ave staring in 1967. By 1978, there was preparation for a massive urban renewal program that centered around the building of the County Courthouse in 1974, the Westchester One office building in 1975, and the Galleria Mall in 1978.
At the time, the Westchester One building was the largest office building between NYC and Albany, and west to Hartford.
Since the early 1960's, many major corporations formerly headquartered in New York City have relocated to White Plains and Westchester, forming what came to be called the "Miracle Mile of Westchester Ave."

Dobbs Ferry New York - Population: 10,622
Named after a ferry service that traversed the Hudson River at this location, Dobbs Ferry may well have played a small but vital role in the American Revolutionary War. According to original manuscripts [1] of General George Washington, Washington met at Dobbs Ferry with French allies the Comte de Rochambeau and the Comte de Grasse to plan the Siege of Yorktown that ended the war with Great Britain. Although historians have long debated whether this meeting took place at present day Dobbs Ferry or at the ferry terminus directly opposite [2]on the Hudson River, a monument has long stood in Dobbs Ferry at Livingston Manor, the site of the claimed 1781 meeting. Dobbs Ferry also played host to another significant event: In 1783, at the Philip Van Brugh Livingston house, Washington and British colonial Governor George Clinton met General Sir Guy Carleton, later known as Lord Dorchester, to negotiate for the evacuation by the British troops of the posts they still held in the United States.
