Schenectady New York - Population: 61,821
Schenectady is a city in Schenectady County, New York, United States, of which it is the county seat. As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 61,821, making it the ninth-largest city in New York. The name "Schenectady" is derived from a Mohawk word for "on that side of the pinery," or "near the pines," or "place beyond the pine plains." The city of Schenectady is in eastern New York, near the confluence of the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers. It is in the same metropolitan area as the state capital, Albany; Schenectady is about fifteen miles (24 km) northwest of Albany. The area that is now Schenectady was originally the land of the Mohawk nation of the Iroquois Confederacy. When Dutch settlers arrived in the Hudson Valley in the middle of the 17th century, the Mohawk called the settlement at Fort Orange "Schau-naugh-ta-da", meaning "over the pine plains."

Gloversville New York - Population: 15,413
Fulton County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2000 census, the population was 55,073. Its name is in honor of Robert Fulton, inventor of the first commercially-practical steamboat. Its county seat is Johnstown.
When counties were established in New York State in 1683, the present Fulton County was part of Albany County. This was an enormous county, including the northern part of New York State as well as all of the present State of Vermont and, in theory, extending westward to the Pacific Ocean. This county was reduced in size on July 3, 1766 by the creation of Cumberland County, and further on March 16, 1770 by the creation of Gloucester County, both containing territory now in Vermont.

First settlements in the area were in the end of the 17th Century near the Hudson River. The Town or area was named in 1707 by Naning Harmansen. The town was created as "Clifton" in 1828 from the Town of Halfmoon. It was the last town created in the county and changed its name to "Clifton Park" in 1829.
The town originally consisted of farmland, but, when the Northway was built through the town, the population and residential and commercial areas of the town skyrocketed.
