Salem is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA. Salem is a marketing and distributing center, with several colleges, recreation attractions and a large shopping mall, the Mall at Rockingham Park. Other features of Salem's tourism history include Rockingham Park Race Track, the first horse race track in New England, and "America's Stonehenge", a curiosity (formerly "Mystery Hill.") A recent attraction in town is the Icenter, a skating arena.The area was first settled in 1652. As early as 1736, Salem was the "North Parish" of Methuen, Massachusetts, or "Methuen District." In 1741, when the boundary line between Massachusetts and New Hampshire was re-established, the "North Parish" became part of New Hampshire, and was given the name "Salem," taken from nearby Salem, Massachusetts. Rockingham Park Race Track, located in Salem, as mentioned in the film The Sting starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford, was central to that film's plot.
Derry New Hampshire - Population: 22,661
Although it was first settled by Scottish-Irish families in 1719, Derry was not incorporated until 1827. It was for a long time part of Londonderry, which included Windham and portions of Manchester, Salem and Hudson. The town was named for the city of Derry, Northern Ireland, the Irish word "Doire" meaning "oak woods." The first potato planted in the United States was planted here in 1719. The town is the location of two of America's oldest private schools, Pinkerton Academy, founded in 1814 and still in operation, and the closed Adams Female Seminary.Derry was once a linen-making center until New England textile industries moved south in the 20th century. As recently as World War II, Derry was also a sleepy farming community. The post-war suburban boom, the town's proximity to Boston in the south and Manchester to the northwest, and the construction of Interstate 93 through town led to a huge population boom.

Pelham New Hampshire - Population: 12,504
Pelham was split from Old Dunstable in 1741, when the border between Massachusetts and New Hampshire was changed. It was incorporated in 1746. The town is named in honor of Henry Pelham, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1743-1754. Henry Pelham was a relative of colonial governor Benning Wentworth.
As of the census2 of 2000, there were 10,914 people, 3,606 households, and 2,982 families residing in the town. The population density was 159.4/km² (412.9/mi²). There were 3,740 housing units at an average density of 54.6/km² (141.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.34% White, 0.44% African American, 0.22% Native American, 1.04% Asian, 0.25% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.96% of the population.

Londonderry New Hampshire - Population: 11,417
Londonderry lies in an area that was first known as "Nutfield" because of the heavy woods with nut trees. The town was settled in 1718. In 1722, it was chartered and given the name "Londonderry," after the British city of Londonderry in Northern IrelandEarly settlers spread out into surrounding villages, bringing Scottish and Northern Irish names like Antrim, Londonderry and Dunbarton. Londonderry was the second largest town in early colonial times, and Londonderry, Windham and a portion of Manchester were formed from it.Londonderry is home to numerous businesses, many of which are located in the northern part of the town near Manchester Airport (MHT). Major businesses headquartered in town include Stonyfield Farm and Blue Seal Feeds. Mack's Apples and Sunnycrest Farm are among the several orchards in town and are emblematic of the town's important farming heritage. The town is also home to numerous retailers, including Hannaford Brothers, Sears, The Home Depot, Staples, and Shaw's.

Hudson began as part of the Dunstable Land Grant that encompassed the current city of Nashua, New Hampshire, as well as Dunstable and Pepperell, Massachusetts. When New Hampshire became its own colony, the New Hampshire portion became Dunstable, New Hampshire. This section was eventually subdivided into 3 towns: Nashville (west of the Merrimack River and north of the Nashua river), Nashua (west of the Merrimack River and south of the Nashua river) and Nottingham (east of the Merrimack River).
