Concord (kän-kord) is a city in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 55,977. It is the county seat of Cabarrus CountyGR6. Winner of the All-America City Award in 2004, Concord is home to Lowe's Motor Speedway; Concord Mills Mall, North Carolina's largest tourist attraction; and a NASCAR Research and Development Office. Several NASCAR race teams are based in Concord, including Hendrick Motorsports, Roush Racing, and Chip Ganassi Racing. It is also home to performance scientist Dr. Jacques Dallaire and the NorthEast Medical Center. The current mayor of Concord is Scott Padgett, and the current city manager is Brian Hiatt.

Huntersville is one of three towns located north of Charlotte, NC, but within the same county. These three towns make up the area known as "North Meck."
