Gastonia is a city in Gaston County in North Carolina, a state in the southeastern United States of America. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 66,277 (68,964 is the 2005 Census Bureau estimated population). It is the county seat of Gaston CountyGR6. It is considered part of the Charlotte metropolitan area, aka Metrolina. After Charlotte, Gastonia is the second largest city in the metropolitan area (in population). As one of the key cities in the MSA, Gastonia has experienced steady growth, with a population change during the 1990s (according the the US Census Bureau) of more than +10%.

Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the 20th largest in the United States, with a population of approximately 610,949 (2005 estimate). The Charlotte metropolitan area (MSA) had a 2006 estimated population of 1,594,799. As of 2005, Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord had a combined statistical area (CSA) population of 2,120,745. The city is at the center of one of the fastest growing metropolitan regions in the United States, with an average influx of roughly 20,000 newcomers each year over the past decade.
Charlotte is the county seat of Mecklenburg CountyGR6, and is located in south-central North Carolina, near the South Carolina border. Nicknamed The Queen City (which it shares with Cincinnati, Ohio), Charlotte was named in honor of Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III of England.

Mount Holly North Carolina - Population: 9,618
As of the census of 2000, there were 9,618 people, 4,028 households, and 2,658 families residing in the city. The population density was 477.3/km² (1,236.3/mi²). There were 4,241 housing units at an average density of 210.5/km² (545.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 86.05% White, 9.30% African American, 0.35% Native American, 2.50% Asian, 0.75% from other races, and 1.06% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.12% of the population.
There were 4,028 households out of which 29.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.1% were married couples living together, 14.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.0% were non-families. 27.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.89.

Belmont North Carolina - Population: 8,705
As of the census of 2000, there were 8,705 people, 3,348 households, and 2,226 families residing in the city. The population density was 416.0/km² (1,077.3/mi²).
