Westland Michigan - Population: 86,602
Westland is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan, about 25 miles west of downtown Detroit. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 86,602.
The city motto is "The Place To Be."
During the 1700s, the area was inhabited by the people of a Pottawatomi Indian village. Other tribes, particularly three Algonquian tribes, used the area as hunting territory. A flour mill, which was restored by Henry Ford in 1918, was built in this same area. Once restored, the mill was used to make stencils for Ford car parts. Named Nankin Mills, this historic site is now used as a nature interpretive center and other community events.
Before becoming "Westland," the area had several other names. Though white settlers did not begin to settle the area until about 1824, they began to arrive at the beginning of the 19th century.

Redford Michigan - Population: 51,622
Redford is a charter township in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 51,622 at the 2000 census.
The township had initially been created as Richland Township by an act of the Michigan Territorial Legislature October 20, 1829, along with Lima Township out of Bucklin Township. However, the legislature overlooked legislation it had passed earlier on April 12, 1827, that prohibited the incorporation of any new township with the same name as any existing post office. Governor Lewis Cass returned the acts unapproved, citing a conflict under the law. The legislature thus had to substitute the names of Nankin Township and Pekin Township after the cities of Nanking and Peking in China. The name Pekin was changed to Redford in 1833. The name Redford was chosen because French fur trappers forded the Rouge river in the same area as Redford. Thus, the name Rouge-"Red"-Ford.

Novi is also home to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, which opened in 1989. Inductees receive the "Horsepower Award" on the Wednesday before the June NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway.

Oak Park Michigan - Population: 29,793
Oak Park officially became a city on October 30, 1945 when the state of Michigan accepted the city charter. Planned developments in the late 1950s resulted in Oak Park being named "America's Fastest Growing City" at one point. Major civic improvements in this period included the addition of an outdoor swimming pool and an ice rink in Major Park (now known as Shepherd Park, after former mayor David Shepherd, but long known informally as Oak Park Park).
Oak Park is home to six of the steel and ceramic houses built by the Lustron company in the early 1950s, which provided an inexpensive type of shelter for servicemen returning from World War II. They can be found on Oneida St., just North of 9 Mile road.
Oak Park grew into a quiet city of one-story houses, sidewalks, trees, and backyards. For many years it has had the feeling of a small town, even though it borders the city of Detroit and several of its larger suburbs.
