Detroit Michigan - Population: 951,270
Detroit (IPA: [d?'t????t]) (French: Détroit, pronounced [det?wa] (help·info)) is the largest city in the U.S. state of Michigan and is the seat of Wayne County. Founded in 1701 by French fur traders, it is a major port city, located north of Windsor, Ontario, on the Detroit River in the Midwest/Great Lakes Region of the United States. It is known as the world's traditional automotive center and an important source of popular-music legacies, celebrated by the city's two familiar nicknames, Motor City and Motown. Detroit was also known as the "Paris of the West." The city's name comes from the Detroit River (in French Rivière du Détroit), meaning "River of the Strait." The name alludes to the connection the river forms between Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie.[2]
In 2005, Detroit ranked as the United States's 11th most populous city, with 886,675 residents.

Warren Michigan - Population: 138,247
Warren was incorporated as a city in 1957 and consists of what was previously Warren Township, less the city of Center Line. Between 1950 and 1960, Warren's population soared, from 727 to 89,426. As the community has matured, its population has gradually leveled off.

Sterling Heights Michigan - Population: 124,471
Sterling Heights was incorporated as a city in 1968. Prior to that it was known as Sterling Township. There was already a small village named Sterling in Arenac County, so the word "Heights" was added to the township name to satisfy state law that prevents incorporated municipalities from having the same name. "Sterling Oaks" was another name under consideration for the new city.
On September 13, 1988, then-presidential candidate Michael Dukakis, intent on portraying himself as tough of defense, appeared in a General Dynamics M1-A-1 battle tank at its land systems division in Sterling Heights. This photo-op led to the infamous Bush campaign commercial, "Tank Ride".
Rapper Eminem briefly lived in the city in 2000.

Saint Clair Shores Michigan - Population: 63,096
The area was home to French settlers as early as 1710, at which time it was called L'anse Creuse. (L'anse Creuse was also the name of a stop on the now-defunct interurban railroad off of Jefferson Ave near 9 Mile Road, and the name lives on today in the L'anse Creuse High School in Harrison Twp.)
From 1843 until 1911, St. Clair Shores was a part of Erin Township. In 1911, the township's name changed to Lake Township. Lake Township still exists, although greatly reduced in area. It now represents only the small portion of the village of Grosse Pointe Shores that lies within Macomb County.
Prior to the city's incorporation in 1951, St. Clair Shores was recognized as the largest village in the United States.
Ice hockey and fishing are popular pastimes. The city once had a small amusement park named Jefferson Beach. After the roller coaster burned down, the lake front became a popular boat storage.

Eastpointe Michigan - Population: 34,077
The community was first settled by Irish and German immigrants in the 1830s. In October 1897, a Post Office was established there with the name of "Half-way", as it was near the halfway point of the stage run between downtown Detroit and the Macomb County seat at Mount Clemens. It incorporated as the village of Halfway in December 1924 and reincorporated as the City of East Detroit in January 1929. The city changed its name to "Eastpointe" after a vote in 1992; the name change had been proposed to reduce its association with the adjacent city of Detroit, and the "-pointe" is intended to associate the city with the exclusive communities of the Grosse Pointes. One effect of changing the city's name was a dramatic rise in property values. Prior to 1924, the majority of the city was part of Erin Township.
The school district that serves most of the city was unaffected by the municipal name change, and still uses the name East Detroit Public Schools.

Mount Clemens (nicknamed "The Clem" by some residents) is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 17,312. It is the county seat of Macomb County6. Mount Clemens was first surveyed in 1795 by Christian Clemens, who settled there four years later. Clemens and his friend, John Brooks, built a distillery, which helped settle the area. Brooks and Clemens platted the land, and the town was named after Clemens in 1818. It received a post office in 1821, with John Stockton as the first postmaster. It filed for incorporation as a village in 1837, but it was not acted upon until 1851. It was later incorporated as a city in 1879. Mount Clemens was known for its mineral baths throughout the early and mid 20th century, accounting for Mount Clemens High School's nickname "Battling Bathers."
