Baltimore Maryland - Population: 651,154
Baltimore is an independent city located in the U.S. state of Maryland on the eastern coast of the United States of America. As of 2005, the population of Baltimore City was 641,943 and the Baltimore-Towson metropolitan area has approximately 2.6 million residents . Baltimore is the largest city in Maryland and serves as the state's major cultural and industrial center.
The city is named after the founding proprietor of the Maryland Colony, Lord Baltimore in the Irish House of Lords. Baltimore became the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the United States during the 1800s. The city is a major U.S. seaport, situated closer to major midwestern markets than any other major seaport on the East Coast.
Because there is also a Baltimore County surrounding (but not including) the city, it is sometimes referred to as Baltimore City when a clear distinction is desired.

Columbia Maryland - Population: 88,254
Columbia is a census-designated place and planned community in Howard County, Maryland, United States. It began with the idea that a city could enhance its residents' quality of life. Creator and developer James W. Rouse saw the new community in terms of human values, not just in terms of economics and engineering. Opened in 1967, Columbia was designed to not only eliminate the inconveniences of then-current subdivision design, but also eliminate racial, religious, and income segregation.
Today, Columbia has a population of about 94,600 (making it the largest unincorporated community in Maryland). By the early 2000s, the town had inexorably acquired many of the characteristics of other contemporary U.S. suburbs, such as increasingly large private homes standing somewhat aloof on large parcels, and "big-box" retail stores accessible mostly by automobile. Rouse's ethos remains a strong influence upon the physical and political development of Columbia.

Towson Maryland - Population: 51,793
The community of Towson began about 1750 when two brothers, William and Thomas Towson, emigrated from Pennsylvania and started farming on Satyr's Hill, to the northeast of York and Joppa Roads. In 1768 Thomas' son, Ezekiel built a large tavern at the crossroads, just north of where the Recher Theater is now. A small village called "Towsontown" began to grow around it, serving area farmers who traveled on York, Dulaney Valley, and Joppa Roads.
In 1790, the Ridgely family completed the magnificent Hampton Mansion, then the largest home in America.[1] On the estate, other buildings were erected by the Chews, Shealeys, Schmucks, Phipps, Paynes, Lees, Bowens, Wares, and Bosleys. In 1839, Epsom Chapel became the first house of worship for the community. (It was demolished in 1950, making way for Towson Plaza, now Towson Town Center.)

Reisterstown Maryland - Population: 22,438
Founded by John Reister in March 1758, the location that is now Reisterstown was settled due to its strategic location on the frontier between Baltimore and points further north in Pennsylvania and west in Maryland. Reister originally purchased 20 acres of land at an intersection of several roads approximately 16 miles northwest of Baltimore. He named this area Reister's Desire and established an inn and tavern.
In 1763 the Reister family purchased an additional 83 acres of land connected to their property and started to attract settlers. By 1785, the town began to grow at a faster pace as Reister's six children moved out on their own and started several businesses in the new town. Some of these businesses included blacksmith and carpenter shops, a distillery, and a tannery.
The town remained a travel-oriented town until people eventually began settling as more stores and commercial businesses opened up.
