Libertyville is a suburb of Chicago in Lake County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,742 at the 2000 census, and estimated to be 21,760 as of 2005. (There is also a township of the same name, which includes the village and some surrounding areas.) Located in northeastern Illinois to the southwest of Waukegan and the northwest of Lake Forest, its immediate neighbors are Mundelein to the west and Vernon Hills to the south. The Mayor of Libertyville is Jeffrey Harger.

North Chicago Illinois - Population: 35,918
North Chicago is a city in Lake County, Illinois, United States. The population was 35,918 at the 2000 census.
North Chicago has the manufacturing headquarters of Abbott Laboratories, EMCO Chemicals, the location of the Naval Station Great Lakes, and Jelly Belly has a production factory in North Chicago at 1501 Morrow Avenue.
The city is also home to Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, which houses the Chicago Medical School and the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine.
Land speculators moved into the area south of what is now the City of Waukegan in the 1890s. Industrial development began almost immediately with a railroad depot being set up in 1892; most notable was the arrival of the Washburn and Moen Manufacturing Company, a major barbed wire maker.

Northbrook Illinois - Population: 33,435
Northbrook is a village located at the northern edge of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 33,435 at the 2000 census, and estimated to be 34,190 as of 2005. When incorporated in 1901, the village was known as Shermerville in honor of Frederick Schermer, who donated the land for its first train station. The village changed its name to Northbrook in 1923 as an effort to improve its public image. The name was chosen because the west fork of the north branch of the Chicago River runs through the Village. Glenbrook North High School, founded in 1953 as Glenbrook High School, is located in Northbrook, as are the corporate headquarters of Underwriters Laboratories, Allstate Corporation, The Land of Nod, and Crate and Barrel. The village is also home to Northbrook Court shopping mall, the Ed Rudolph Velodrome, and the Northbrook Public Library.

Gurnee Illinois - Population: 28,834
Gurnee is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. The population was 28,834 at the 2000 census, and estimated to be 30,772 in 2005.
Early settlers in the Gurnee area came by foot horseback and by "Prairie Schooners" drawn by oxen or via the Erie Canal and the Great Lakes. They came from the town of Warren, New York, which was named in honor of Major General Joseph Warren, killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Warren Township, formed in 1850, was also named after him. The first settlement of Warren Township commenced in 1835 in the vicinity of the Aux Plaines River (now the Des Plaines River).

Vernon Hills Illinois - Population: 20,120
Vernon Hills is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,120 at the 2000 census, and estimated to be 23,957 as of 2005. Vernon Hills serves as a retail hub for its surrounding area (Libertyville, Lake Forest, Mundelein, Lincolnshire).
The land that was to become Vernon Hills began with the establishment of a 200-acre farm in 1851. Use of the land remained relatively static until the 1950s, when part of it was purchased for a residential community and golf course; the development was the first use of the name "Vernon Hills." In 1958, the village officially incorporated with 123 residents. It saw steady but slow growth until the annexing of a plot of land near the corner of IL-60 and IL-21 in 1971, which led to the building of 1.2 million-square-foot Hawthorn Center (now known as Westfield Hawthorn). The addition of this significant commercial hub reduced the tax burden of private residents and helped facilitate growth.

Lake Forest Illinois - Population: 20,059
Lake Forest is an affluent city in Lake County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,059 at the 2000 census. The city is south of Waukegan, Illinois, on the shore of Lake Michigan, and is a part of the Chicago metropolitan area and the North Shore.
Lake Forest was founded around its college and laid out as a town in 1857 as a stop for travelers making their way south to Chicago. The headquarters of Tenneco, Brunswick (both Fortune 500 companies), and BFG Technologies are located in unincorporated Lake Forest. The Chicago Bears training facility opened in 1997 in west Lake Forest, and the Chicago Fire now train at the Bears' previous facility located on the campus of Lake Forest College. Robert Redford filmed Ordinary People, the story of a Lake Forest family, on location in 1980, and the movie went on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Actor Vince Vaughn graduated from Lake Forest High School, as did author Dave Eggers and musician Andrew Bird.
