Pembroke Pines Florida - Population: 137,427
Pembroke Pines is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 137,427 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau is 150,104.
Pembroke Pines was incorporated in 1960, and took the name Pembroke from its location along Pembroke Road and the many pine trees in the area. But the name Pembroke may date back much further. The name may have been from an early landowner from Britain known as the Earl of Pembroke.
The first inhabitants in the city are known as “Archaic” and were small bands of Indians that first appeared about 4,000 years ago. Skeletal remains of animal hunters dating about 10,000 years old were found around Broward County, showing that perhaps human beings have lived here even earlier. These people inhabited the county about 2,000 to 4,000 years ago. These Archaic Indians ate fish, shellfish, deer, bear, and plants such as sea grape and prickly pear.

Davie Florida - Population: 75,720
Davie was founded by a group of settlers composed of workers from the Panama Canal Zone. The original name of the town was Zona because of this. Randolph P. Davie, a developer, bought about 27,000 acres in the area and the town name was changed to "Davie." It was carved out of Everglades land that was mostly under water. The early history of the town was dominated by drainage issues, some of which persist today.
Davie has always had a reputation as a "Western" town. It boasts a huge horse owning population and once was home to many herds of cattle. In recent years commercial and residential development has discouraged such practices but Davie still tries to maintain what it has.
Pioneer City, a western theme park, was located across the street from Flamingo Gardens. It was built in the 1960's and close a few years later.
