Manchester was settled by colonists around 1672 as a farming community. The many rivers and brooks provided power for paper, lumber and textile industries, and the town quickly evolved into an important industrial center. In 1838, the Cheney family started what became the world's largest silk mill. Eventually, Manchester became an ideal industrial community. The mills, houses of the owners, and homes of the workers are now part of a National Historic Landmark District. Many of the buildings on Main Street and Hartford Road reflect the rich industrial and cultural heritage of the silk age. Visit the Historical Society of Manchester, CT for more information about the rich history of the community.

Farmington Connecticut - Population: 25,084
Farmington was originally inhabited by the Tunxis Indian tribe. In 1640 a white settlement was established by residents of Hartford, making it the oldest inland settlement West of the Connecticut River and one of the oldest communities in the state. They found the area ideal for settling because of its rich soil, location along the Farmington River, and valley geography.
The town and river were given their present names in 1645, which is considered the incorporation year of the town. The boundaries were later enlarged several times, making the town by far the largest in the Connecticut Colony. It has been called the "mother of towns" because its area has been divided to produce nine central Connecticut communities.
Located in the picturesque Farmington Valley, Farmington is steeped in history. Main Street, in the historic village section, is lined with colonial estates, some dating back to the 17th century.

Avon Connecticut - Population: 17,333
Avon is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. As of 2005, the town has an estimated total population of 17,209.
Avon was settled in 1645 and was originally a part of Farmington but sold to the Puritans in a land charter granted by the Duke of York in 1830. Avon was originally called Northington (the north parish) before it broke off from Farmington. According to the Avon Historical Society, Avon's independence was rooted in the need for a church that was more accessible to the growing town's population than the Congregational Church in Farmington. They eventually commissioned someone to come north from the Yale Divinity School to found the first church. It is generally considered a suburb of Hartford. Avon Old Farms School, a prestigious boarding school, is located there. In 2005, Avon was named the 3rd safest town in America by Money Magazine.
