Rolling Hills is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 1,871. According to the 2000 US Census, Rolling Hills is the 21st richest place in the United States (based upon per capita income), and #4 for places with a population of at least 1,000. Rolling Hills consists of a single gated community. Residents work, shop, attend school, and obtain other services in the other towns on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Incorporated in 1957, the city maintains a ranch character, with no traffic lights, large spaces between houses (cf. population density below), and wide equestrian paths along streets. The city borders Rolling Hills Estates to the north and Rancho Palos Verdes on all other sides (including the empty Portuguese Bend landslide area to the south).

Torrance California - Population: 137,946
Torrance is a city located in southwestern Los Angeles County, California.
In the early 1900s real estate developer Jared Sidney Torrance and other investors saw the value of creating a mixed industrial-residential community south of Los Angeles. They purchased part of an old Spanish land grant and hired landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. to design a new planned community. The resulting town was founded in 1911 and named after Torrance; the city of Torrance was formally incorporated in 1921.
As of the 2000 census, the city population was 137,946; a 2003 estimate puts the total population at 142,621 [1]. Torrance is the seventh largest city in Los Angeles County.

The history of Rancho Palos Verdes dates back to the Spanish explorers and the establishment of the first Spanish rancho land grant in California. Its most notable geographic features are the Palos Verdes Hills and cliffs with grand vistas of the Pacific Ocean, with views of Santa Catalina Island. Its most notorious geographic feature is the continuous landslide at Portuguese Bend, which may have been caused in part by septic runoff from homes in Rancho Palos Verdes and its neighboring communities.

Manhattan Beach is a city located in southwestern Los Angeles County, California, USA. The population was 33,852 at the 2000 census. Of a rotating City Council of five members, Mitch Ward is the current mayor.
The city is on the Pacific Ocean coast, to the south of El Segundo, and to the north of Hermosa Beach. To the east are the cities of Lawndale and Redondo Beach. It is one of the three Beach Cities in the South Bay.
As of the census of 2000, there were 33,852 people, 14,474 households, and 8,394 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,325.8/km² (8,606.7/mi²). There were 15,034 housing units at an average density of 1,477.0/km² (3,822.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 88.99% White, 0.61% African American, 0.21% Native American, 6.04% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 1.23% from other races, and 2.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.19% of the population.
