Little Rock is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Arkansas. It is the county seat of Pulaski County and had a city population of 184,564 in the 2005 census estimates. It and North Little Rock, Arkansas are co-principal cities of the six-county Little Rock-North Little Rock, Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area, an area with a population of 643,272 people, according to 2005 census estimates. The MSA is in turn included in the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Arkansas Combined Statistical Area, which had a population of 819,469 in the 2005 census estimates.
Located near the geographic center of Arkansas, Little Rock derives its name from a small rock formation on the south bank of the Arkansas River called La Petite Roche (the "little rock"). The "little rock" was used by early river traffic as a landmark and became a well-known river crossing.

North Little Rock is a city located in central Arkansas across the Arkansas River from Little Rock in Pulaski County. Jacksonville Arkansas - Population: 29,916
Jacksonville is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 29,916, at the 2000 Census, making the city the eleventh most populous in the state. It is part of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-AR Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The city is named for Nicholas and Elizabeth Jackson, landowners who deeded the land for the railroad right-of-way to the Cairo & Fulton Railroad in 1870. The community evolved from the settlement surrounding the railroad depot, eventually incorporating in 1941. Since 1955, the city has been home to Little Rock Air Force Base.
